Bayside Little League: Pee Wee Folks’ bat boy nabs game ball

Pee Wee Folks Preschool finished off the season in the Bayside Little League Texas Farm Division with a big offensive showing Saturday, scoring the maximum number of runs in three of the four innings.  The game ball went to Dominic D’Orta, the hardest working bat boy in the league. Coach Rich would like to thank all the parents and players for a fine season. Comment

Bold Union is queen of Astoria

Bold Union proved a 10 3⁄4 length victory in her debut June 1 at Monmouth Park was no fluke, running away with the 102nd running of the $100,000 Astoria at Belmont Park Sunday and romping the seven-horse field by 9 3⁄4 lengths in the 5 1⁄2 furlong race for two-year old fillies. Comment

CNG All-city baseball Coach of the Year

The 10th-year coach helped the Bay Ridge, Brooklyn school to its first CHSAA Class A intersectional title since 2004 — and the Clippers’ third since 2001. Canale’s team beat Moore Catholic twice in the playoffs, once in the championship. Comment
