Former Marine and longtime Little Neck Memorial Day Parade organizer James E. Flaherty, Jr. of Little Neck, died of cancer last Wednesday. He was 67.
Flaherty, who served as a tank commander with the 1st Marine Division in Central and Western Korea in 1952, was credited with expanding the Little Neck Memorial Day Parade into the second largest in the nation.
