As the 49th Precinct community bid farewell to a beloved lieutenant shortly before the New Year, the 47th Precinct welcomed its latest captain.
Newly minted Capt. Carmine Palummo, formerly the Special Operations lieutenant at the Morris Park-based stationhouse, was promoted on December 22 and transferred to new territory in the north Bronx, where as executive officer he will serve as second in command to Deputy Inspector Timothy Hardimon.
Palummo, who primarily handled quality of life issues, special projects and search warrants at the 49th Precinct, left quite an impression on his colleagues. His commander, Capt. Kevin Collins, said his night watchman would be remembered for his diligent work on the force.
