Alyssa Faller, Queens High School of Teaching
She only played four games in the regular season and everyone, including Faller herself, thought her senior season was over due to injury. But then she found out her father, Joe, had terminal brain cancer and it changed her life — and the Tigers’ fortunes. Faller decided she needed to play soccer as an escape and the Loyola-bound forward led 14th-seeded Queens HS of Teaching to the PSAL Class B title.
