Man robbed of cell phone, cash in elevator: Police

FAR ROCKAWAY — Police were asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a man wanted in connection with an April 10 robbery at 13-34 Caffrey Ave.

The suspect followed a 45-year-old man into the elevator at the address at about 2:50 a.m., pushed and choked the victim, produced a knife and forcibly took the victim’s cell phone and an undetermined amount of money, according to police.

The suspect then fled the building in an unknown direction.

Described as a black male in his 40s, the suspect was about 6 feet 3 inches tall, 180 pounds to 200 pounds and wore a close-cropped haircut, according to police. He was wearing blue jeans and a black, waist-length jacket with orange writing on the back.
