ASTORIA — Police were seeking help in identifying a man who allegedly attempted to steal a woman’s purse in Astoria last month, authorities said.
The NYPD said a 28-year-old woman was walking in front of 31-45 Crescent St. around noon March 25 when a man allegedly attempted to steal her purse. The woman tugged back on the bag and the suspect fled, police said.
The suspect was described by authorities as a Hispanic man in his late teens, approximately 5-foot-8 and around 140 pounds. He was wearing blue jeans and a black jacket with a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath, according to the NYPD.
Those with information should contact NYPD’s Crimestoppers by calling 1-800-577-TIPS (8477), visiting its website or texting 274637 (CRIMES) and entering TIP577.
