Man viciously beaten in Ridgewood

A 35-year-old man was fighting for his life after being viciously assaulted by three men Sunday in Ridgewood, police said.

According to police and surveillance footage, the three men sneaked up from behind the victim and hit him in the back of the head with an unknown object outside a deli on Fresh Pond Road near Linden Street at around 4:40 a.m.,

The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital, where he was in critical condition, officials said.

The suspect, described as a white man in his 20s with a Mohawk hairstyle, was being sought Sunday night.

No cause has been determined in for the attack and the investigation was ongoing, police said.
