Several hours after a woman died of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound Monday in Bayside, a letter arrived at the Bayside Times labeled “A Deathbed Statement.”

The incident occurred outside the Beauty Forever Salon at 36-36 Bell Blvd., at about 9 a.m., according to an officer at the scene.

The woman was found dead on arrival, the police spokeswoman said.

Police confirmed that the letter was from the dead woman, who had been involved in a Small Claims Court case against the salon.

The seven-page letter, which was written March 18, described the writer’s travails throughout her life. It ended by saying “I can’t live like that again, I won’t.”

A woman who answered the phone at the Beauty Forever Salon said she did not want to discuss the suicide.

An older model Buick driven by the dead woman was parked directly in front of the salon.

Jonah from Queens says:
Well that's interesting. the tiresome QNS.COM reports the deceased was a male. Either way, salons such as this one should be regulated by the dept. of health, none of which are. Lots of disease-causing bacteria in these salons with poorly sterilized equipment, if at all.

Mental Health Professional from Queens says:
Unfortunately, there are many disturbed people in this world who are not getting treatment for undiagnosed mental health conditions. Just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Any reputable salons practice good hygiene and sterilize their equipment.

Also ignore treatment from queens says:
A bigger problem is that the mentally ill refuse treatment or ignore medical advice. They are given medicine which they refuse to take. They endanger all of us. Thankfully this person did not drag anyone else down.
