The One Flushing Development in downtown Flushing slated to open in Jan. 2019 has opened its lottery accepting applications until Aug. 28.

One Flushing Housing opened its lottery last week, accepting applications for its 231 affordable units up for grabs in the heart of downtown Flushing.

The One Flushing Development located at 133-45 41st Ave. in downtown Flushing, will be a multi-generational community, offering low- and middle-income family and senior housing, according to Asian Americans for Equality.

“One Flushing builds on AAFE’s long-term commitment to expand affordable housing options and create equitable communities in New York’s immigrant neighborhoods,” said Doris Koo, interim executive director of AAFE, June 28. “This innovative project will provide desperately needed low- and middle-income housing, including low-income senior housing, on-site wellness and educational programs, vibrant community programming, and new opportunities for Flushing’s small businesses to flourish.”

One Flushing — slated to open in January — offers units ranging from studios to three-bedrooms that are available to households earning between $20,675 to $157,300. It will also include a 156-space public parking garage, 15,000 square feet of community space, and 25,000 square feet of retail space. AAFE will provide a wide range of services for seniors at One Flushing — health care, adult day care, education programming, exercise opportunities, and one-on-one social services.

Amenities include a 24-hour doorman, kids’ play room, a gym, landscaped rooftop terraces and a rooftop farm for residents. The roof also contains a massive 134kW solar array, the largest on any multi-family development to date.

“At long last, our community has the opportunity to apply for a 100 percent affordable housing development right in the heart of downtown Flushing,” said Councilman Peter Koo (D-Flushing).

The transformative development – adjacent to the Flushing-Main Street LIRR Station and around the corner from the Flushing-Main Street 7 train subway stop – is the result of a partnership between AAFE, the Hellenic American Neighborhood Action Committee and Monadnock Development.

“HANAC is proud to be a part of this model and intergenerational housing development with AAFE and Monadnock,” said John Kaiteris, HANAC executive director. “It will provide services and amenities, including an adult day care, weatherization services, and retail businesses that will not only serve the tenants, but the entire greater Flushing community.”

Online and paper applications are available in English, Arabic, Chinese Haitian Creole, Korean, Russian, and Spanish.

Online applications must be submitted by Aug. 28. Completed paper applications must be sent to the P.O. Box address indicated on the application, postmarked by the application deadline date. Paper applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Applicants may not submit more than one application per household.
