Centenarians fill Ozanam Hall

At Ozanam Hall in Bayside, there is a select group of people who have earned their way into one of the nursing home’s more exclusive clubs. While the average age of the more than 400 residents hovers somewhere around a spry 90, Ozanam is home to 18 people 100 or older, and that number looks like it is only going to get bigger. Comment.

Avella says Albany suits him

State Sen. Tony Avella (D-Bayside) may be one of 62 senators, but the lawmaker said he has a stronger voice among his colleagues than when he was on the City Council, where he was one of 51 legislators — 48 of them Democrats. Comment.

Pamela McGlaughlin said her brother, Billy Barnes, worked on subways and trains underground as an electrician for years, so when he got a job to work on the Throgs Neck Bridge, he was delighted to be out in the fresh air. Comment.
