Division is Wagner’s to win
BY ZACHARY BRAZILLER
Last Thursday, Robert Wagner took another step towards clinching the Queens B division, routing Queens Vocational Tech, 84-66, behind senior guard Carl Wardlaw’s 33 points. Junior Jamel Edwards added 25 points and 16 rebounds.
The defending Queens B champion Panthers lead Aviation by one game in the loss column but the two teams will not meet again this season. If Wagner (16-2 Queens B) can beat Renaissance and the always tough American Studies this week, the division is theirs.

Sparked by the addition of the 6-foot-8 center Nyika Williams, McClancy (10-9, 6-5 CHSAA A South) has been on a roll the last few weeks, winning five of their last six games, including Friday evening’s 61-59 win over Nazareth.
Perry Opong hit the game-winning jumper as time expired. Stephen Wood led McClancy with 19 points and Williams added 11.

It’s been a rough year for the St. Francis Prep girls team, but not in the last week. The Terriers (6-13, 2-9 CHSAA I) earned their first league win last week over Bishop Loughlin, then topped Mary Louis, 58-55, Saturday evening. Bonnie DeFina scored 27 points to lead the way.
