Today’s news:

Addabbo telephone hotline to hear constituent needs

In a move to fulfill a campaign promise to constituents that he would always be available to them, Councilman Joseph Addabbo (D-Howard Beach) launched a 24-hour telephone hotline last week.

After regular business hours, callers to his 738-111 office number in Howard Beach and his 318-6411 number in Rockaway will be automatically connected to a live operator who will take down information and immediately forward it to a member of Addabbo’s staff. If necessary, the staff member could then contact Addabbo.

“What is important to me is that the residents have access to my office and its services at any time of the day or night,” Addabbo said.

The councilman said his constituents should only use the numbers for emergencies after business hours.

“When I was campaigning last year, one part of my platform was accessibility and accountability,” he said. “These are very important factors for the community.”
