In his first game back from a hyperextended right ankle that kept him sidelined for two weeks, Boland was masterful in a 7-1 win over John Adams in the second round of the Monroe tournament Monday at Taft High School in the Bronx.

I knew they were a good hitting team, and I knew I couldnt fall behind, Boland said. If I made a mistake, theyd take me deep. I knew I had to stay on top of things.
