Corona man saves life of falling baby

By Nathan Duke

Pedro Nevarez, of Corona, and his friend, Julio Gonzalez, 43, of the Bronx, caught 3-year-old Timothy Addo, of the Bronx, after he dangled from a fire escape four stories above the ground and then fell, police said. The window had been opened by a 50-year-old baby sitter who was having a smoke, but no arrests have been made in the incident, police said.Timothy was taken to the hospital, but received no serious injuries, police said. The baby fell after losing his grip on the fire escape at 2105 Daly Avenue in the Bronx and bounced off Nevarez's chest as Gonzalez caught him, police said. The heroic save was one of two in the city last week. On Jan. 2, Harlem resident Wesley Autrey saved the life of film student Cameron Hollopeter, who fell on the No. 1 subway tracks after suffering a seizure. Autrey held the young man down in a space between two subway rails as an oncoming train approached them. Autrey was awarded the city's Bronze Medallion last Thursday.
