St. Andrew’s girls’ soccer falls to St. Luke’s

The St. Andrew Avellino Girls Rookie soccer team was defeated by St. Luke's Sunday, 6-0 at Throgs Neck Field. Despite the score, St. Andrew's received outstanding play from forward Kristin Poptean and midfielder Katie McCreesh.

In Saturday's early-riser game played at Throgs Neck No. 1 field, St. Andrew Peewee girls upset St. Luke, 1-0. The goal was scored early in the first half by forward Nicole Penaloza, assisted by midfielder Jaclyn Falco. The game was dominated by St Andrew, with numerous goal chances blocked by St. Luke's strong defense.
