Today’s news:

Padavan should be honored while alive

I agree with reader Frederick R. Bedell Jr. in that the Glen Oaks Campus school should be named after state Sen. Frank Padavan (R-Bellerose) ("Padavan deserves campus in his name," TimesLedger, July 3, 2008). He worked hard for it. I am grateful to him. We should honor people while they are still alive.

As a mother of a graduate, however, he could have shown up for the High School for Teaching's graduation. He was invited to the first graduation since the campus was named after him.
