The site of a former manufactured gas facility sold to the Parks Department decades ago is getting a new lease on life.

Hazardous material that lay dormant for the past 60 years below the surface Starlight Park, located at E. 173rd Street, has been cleaned up, and a variety of agencies will completely restore the facility.

Starlight Park, near the Bronx River Expressway in Soundview, had a remediation procedure performed on two acres of the park
