Suspected DWI driver hit a motorist’s car: DA

RICHMOND HILL — A 39−year−old Richmond Hill man was arrested after he allegedly drove drunk and backed into another driver, damaging her car, the Queens district attorney said.

Tirath Singh, of 95−16 129th St. in Richmond Hill, was arraigned April 20 before Queens Criminal Court Judge Toko Serita on charges of operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, aggravated driving while intoxicated and leaving the scene of an incident without reporting it, Queens DA Richard Brown said. The defendant, released on $3,000 bail, will return to court this week, a DA spokeswoman said.

Singh was arrested after he allegedly backed into a 2004 Honda in front of his house, causing damage to the passenger side of that vehicle, according to the criminal complaint. He then is alleged to have driven forward about 25 feet, parked and walked into his home, the DA said.

Arresting officers allegedly found Singh to be unsteady on his feet as well as have alcohol on his breath and bloodshot, watery eyes, Brown said.
