ELMHURST — A bicyclist was killed on the Queens Boulevard Friday night when a driver accidentally struck him, police said.
The unidentified 48-year-old bike rider was traveling southbound on 69th Street near Queens Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. at the same time an unidentified 24-year-old driver of a 2009 Volkswagen Jetta was traveling westbound on the boulevard, police said.
The driver struck the bicyclist, but stayed at the scene until police and EMS crews arrived, according to police. The bike rider was transported to Elmhurst Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.
There was no criminality involved with the accident, according to police.
