A 31-year-old Long Island City man died Sunday night after being shot in Astoria and driving himself to the hospital, police said.
Michael Chatfield, 31, who lived on 10th Street in Long Island City, was shot twice in the torso just before 11:30 p.m. Sunday at the corner of 24th Street and 20th Avenue in Astoria, police said.
The victim managed to drive himself to Mount Sinai Queens Hospital, but was pronounced dead a short time later, police said. No arrests have been made in the shooting and there are currently no suspects, police said.
There are currently two murders in Astoria’s 114th Precinct so far this year, as opposed to four homicides at this time last year, according to police statistics.
