State Assemblyman Andrew Hevesi (D-Forest Hills) was recently named chairman of the Assembly Oversight, Analysis and Investigations Committee.

“Assemblyman Hevesi will have a key role in ensuring a responsible and efficient government in New York,” Assembly Speaker Sheldon Silver (D-Manhattan) said in a statement. “I know he will be a tremendous leader in this capacity and look forward to working closely with him to develop legislation and policies that will ensure our government is working as intended.”

The announcement was made June 29 and the new appointment will allow Hevesi to investigate how efficiently the state government is operating.

“Providing oversight of the state’s agencies and authorities is crucial to having an efficient and responsible government,” Hevesi said in a statement. “I look forward to working with Speaker Silver and my colleagues to ensure that all entities are acting efficiently, responsibly and in compliance with the legislative intent under which they were created.”
