Man robs bank and gets away in a wheelchair

Police from the 114th Precinct were searching for a man who robbed an Astoria bank in a wheelchair. The suspect entered the Santander Bank, located at 37-10 Broadway, Monday around 2 p.m. and passed a note to the teller demanding cash, police said.

The suspect did not brandish a weapon, but the teller handed over $1,212, according to the NYPD. The man took off in his black wheelchair and was last seen fleeing westbound on Broadway, investigators said.

The suspect was described as a black man age 25 to 30 years old weighing around 160 pounds. He was clean shaven and wearing a gray hoodie.
