Man is fatally shot in Jamaica

Police were seeking information about a fatal shooting that occurred in Jamaica on Monday evening, according to the NYPD.

At about 9:37 p.m., police responded to a 911 call about a man being shot at 109-31 157th St., between 109th and Brinkenhoff avenues. Police from the 103rd Precinct responded to the call and found a 23-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to the back.

EMS workers responded to the scene and transported the man to Jamaica Hospital for treatment, but he was pronounced dead there. The identity of the man who was shot was being withheld pending family notification.

As of press time, there were no arrests and the investigation is continuing, according to the NYPD.
