ASTORIA – Police from the 114th Precinct were searching for a suspect who approached a 29-year-old man from behind and displayed a handgun while demanding his property.

Police say the incident occurred Aug. 15 around 4 a.m. The suspect snatched a chain from the victim’s neck before shooting him once in the left shoulder before fleeing southbound on 33rd Street before entering a white four-door Sport Utility Vehicle, according to the NYPD.

Police describe the suspect as a 25- to 30-year-old black man, 6-feeºt-tall and weighing 170 to 180 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt, black sweatpants and glasses.

The vehicle is described as a white Jeep Grand Cherokee with black rims, police say.
