Markey loses seat, Hyndman and Stavisky keep theirs

BARNWELL DEFEATS MARKEY
Lawyer Bryan Barnwell delivered a stunning blow to state Assemblywoman Margaret Markey (D-Maspeth), walking away with 66 percent of the vote in Tuesday’s Democratic primary with 92 percent of the precincts counted, the city Board of Election unofficial results revealed soon after the polls closed.

HYNDMAN KEEPS HER SEAT
In the race for the 29th Assembly District, Assemblywoman Alicia Hyndman (D-Springfield Gardens) had 73 percent of the vote to 20.5 percent for Lorraine Gittens-Bridge and 6.5 percent for Linda Guillebeaux, according to NY1, with 94 percent of the precincts reporting.

STAVISKY BEATS JUNG
Veteran state Senator Toby Stavisky (D-Flushing) beat back a challenge from community organizer S.J. Jung, capturing 55.7 percent of the vote with 93 percent of the precincts reporting, NY 1 said.
