Community Board 4 holds its first youth fair

Community Board 4 will close off the street behind the St. John’s Hospital parking lot Saturday to host its first Youth 101 community fair for young people. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., career services, educational opportunities and health screenings will be provided by multiple agencies and businesses on 58th Avenue between Hoffman Drive and Seabury Street in Elmhurst.

“A lot of our youth don’t know what is available to them,” CB4 District Manager Christian Cassagnol said. “This will provide our youth with a one-stop shop for as many services as possible.”

Each attendee will be issued a passport that will be stamped at each table they visit, which they can then keep. It contains contact information for the agencies and businesses taking part, such as Queens Center mall, Amazon, King Apartments, and Creativeink.

Youth 101 is co-sponsored and hosted by Borough President Melinda Katz, with a special performance provided by the Kupferberg Center for the Arts.

“The Youth 101 fair will be a fabulous event with games, prizes and entertainment, along with some important informational tables,” Katz said. “It is my pleasure to host this community event with Community Board 4.”
